Good Folk Book Club: February 2023

Join us on Tuesday, February 7th for our first meeting of the Good Folk Book Club, a community geared towards books focused specifically on rural America, Appalachia, and the American South. In addition to discussions of the book during our virtual meetings, we will also provide writing prompts and conversation guides to get you thinking about the work you’ve read. Exciting!

Book club meetings will take place on Zoom on the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm EST/6pm CST. All meetings are free and open to the public, whether you identify as Southern or not. You can register for our first meeting, next Tuesday, February 7th, here. We’ll be discussing Ava’s Man by Rick Bragg, a nonfiction story telling the story of Bragg's grandfather Charlie Bundrum. Set in the Appalachian foothills of Georgia and Alabama in the early to mid twentieth century, Ava's Man is a “family chronicle and human portrait so vivid you can smell the cornbread and whiskey."
